Not that I needed another fandom or anything, but I started watching this new show on ABC Family, "The Secret Life Of The American Teenager". Basically the reason was that John Schneider and Mark Derwin were in it. Turns out, John's character is a recurring one, and Mark's character doesn't have a lot of space either; but the damage was done, cause I ended up loving the show.

The pilot was very fast paced and you couldn't help but being drawn in... The story is about fifteen year old Amy who discovers that she's pregnant after having sex with bad boy Ricky. Nerdy Ben falls in love with Amy at first sight and joins the band that Amy plays in, just to be close to her. And since I am a shipping maniac, I think I'm already obsessed with Amy/Ben. They are so unbelievably cute that I can't help it! :)

We are at episode #2 now, and there are 10 planned throughout the summer... I'll keep my fingers crossed and wish that my high hopes for the couple won't be dashed...

On Friday, June 20th the Daytime Emmy Awards were held in LA. Good news for GL!

The wonderful Gina Tognoni won her second Emmy for Oustanding Supporting Actress, and Tom Pelphrey won his second Emmy for Oustanding Younger Actor!

Tom HAD to win this year, the performances he gave during Tammy's death were stellar. Some of the best acting ever seen on a soap. I couldn't watch those episodes more than twice because of the raw emotions that leapt out of the screen.

But I'm so psyched for Gina!! Thank God the brain damage storyline paid off in some way, cause on the screen it could have been SO much more... But it awarded her with another well deserved Emmy, so I can't complain :) She was as gracious as ever during her acceptance speech, she's truly a lovely person...

Here's a clip of Gina's win:

I redid the layout yet again, and all the credit goes to the amazing layouts over at [info]snubbly. You should check it out!

I think it's obvious that I'm on a Naley kick right now :) I was actually watching the OTH pilot with commentary from Mark Schwahn, and I realized for the first time how close we came to not having Naley at all. I knew that Bethany Joy was NOT in the original pilot, and that her scenes were added later when she was cast. In the pilot you can actually see the actress that was originally cast to play Lucas' best friend (those scenes weren't reshot because of budget limitations). And then it really hit me: if Joy hadn't been cast at the last minute, there would have never been any OTH for me, considering I started watching just for her. And there would have been no Naley... Now that's a scary perspective! LOL!

I almost forgot what "free time" meant, but school is finally over and I'm on holiday...

My first real teaching experience is over, and, as draining as it was especially in May-June, I have to say that I'm quite satisfied. I'm going to miss most of my crazy boys and girls! :)

I'll have to get back on track with my many fandoms... I've barely managed to keep up with Season 2 of Ugly Betty, which I'm loving, BTW. My Daniel-Betty loving heart is going crazy with all the goodness that's coming out of this season. "Giving Up The Ghost" and "Zero Worship" are some of the best UB eppys EVER.

I miss watching One Tree Hill like crazy, and finally I can start again... I can't believe that I still haven't finished Season 3!

And Dukes... I haven't watched an episode since JANUARY!! And it was the amazing "Ghost of General Lee". Can't wait to pull out those DVDs again!

And I have like a month of Guiding Light episodes waiting for me on my DVD recorder... I should get to work! LOL!!

Blown away. I never thought I'd use these words again while talking about Guiding Light, considering the state of today's GL. But I'm glad to admit that I was wrong.

Since I'm perennially behind in watching GL, for the last week I've been watching late June episodes. My current favorite couple, Mallet and Dinah, have finally been given a story worthy of that name, and the results have been amazing! Gina Tognoni and Robert Bogue are doing a wonderful job, and all the shows, beginning with Dinah trying to help Mallet with the Griggs problem, to Dinah taking a bullet for him, to Mallet pondering whether to pull the pug on Dinah or not, have been perfect. My favorites being the "Hero" Inside The Light, and the June 29th episode, when Mallet puts her wedding ring back on Dinah's finger, and she (miraculously?) awakens. It's so cliche, so soapy, but I love it! :)

Definitely for me Mallet and Dinah are the best thing on GL right now, with Cyrus/Marina a close second. As much as I loved Aubrey Dollar's Marina, I've never been a fan of Mandy Bruno's Marina. I've never liked her. Ever. Until Cyrus was brought on. I see chemistry between the two of them, and I find that I actually like Marina. And this is scary, believe me :)

I'm on a John Schneider high. Well, to be truthful, I've been on a John high since January of this year! But lately I'm constantly listening to the "Tryin' to outrun the wind" album, and I'm having a Smallville Season Two marathon. Jonathan Kent has got to be the hottest dad ever! LOL! I've also found out that John is in a new movie called "Sydney White" where Crystal Hunt (my Lizzie) also stars. How I miss her!
